Stracciatella Frozen Yoghurt

At school, I learned how to make ice-cream without using an ice-cream maker. Instead, you only need 2 plastic bags, some ice cubes and some salt. At school, I made a rich vanilla ice-cream, but my mom thought it would be nice to make it a little fresher by adding yoghurt. And of course, we added some chocolate. So now it's Stracciatella Frozen Yoghurt. Try it, it's fun to make!!!

For 2-3 small servings you' ll need: 50 g dark chocolate, 125 ml double cream, 60 g sugar, 250 ml plain yoghurt, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Extra: 1 gallon ziploc bag, 1 small ziploc bag, 3-4 cups of ice cubes, 12-14 tbs salt

Notes: In the Netherlands (where I come from) you dont' have double cream. Use normal cream instead. Also, replace the vanilla extract by fresh vanilla or 1 little bag of vanilla sugar (with real vanilla).

1. Chop the chocolate into small pieces.

2. Pour the cream and sugar into the small ziploc bag. Close the bag and shake and kneed until the sugar has dissolved.

3. Add the vanilla. It is easier if you put the bag with ingredients in a glass or jar.

4. Add the yoghurt.

5. Add the chopped chocolate.

6. Close the bag and knead and shake until the ingredients are mixed well.

7. Put the ice cubes in the large ziploc bag and add the salt. The salt will make the ice colder.

8. Put the small bag into the large bag with ice. Make sure all the air is out of both the bags and close them tightly. If you do not close them well, the ingredients will leak into the ice.

9. Now you start kneading. It will be cold so wear gloves or use a towel. Keep kneading for about 10 minutes, or until the mixture feels like soft ice-cream. If the weather is hot, you might need to knead for a longer time and get a new batch of ice cubes and salt.

10. When your Frozen Yoghurt is ready, take the small bag out of the large one and rinse it very briefly under a cold running tap to prevent the salt from getting into the bag. This does not taste nice!

Enjoy!
